Grand Bazaar in Turkey’s ancient city of Istanbul, where the bridging point of Europe and the Middle East, is filled with enchanting regional vintage crafts that include colourful mosaic ramps that create dreamy-like atmosphere and artisan ceramics with unique designs and patterns.

Carpets and rugs are also famous regional crafts in Turkey, and this tradition continues to the Caucasus region in the east. Those patterns and symbols used in designs are slightly different depending on the area of production, and are sold in crafts markets, antique shops and decorated inside the buildings.

It was fascinating to discover the rich history of those traditional crafts, their origins and the meanings of ancient symbols in the design, by visiting local galleries and talking with antique shop owners.
